Health Insurance

Students are strongly advised to have some type of health insurance.

Health Insurance Accepted by the Student Health Center

The Student Health Center is not a participating provider for any insurance plan other than the current U of U Student Health Insurance Plan. SHC is not part of the University Hospital and Clinics Healthcare system.

All charges are the responsibility of the student and should be paid at each visit. Auto accident injuries cannot be treated at the Student Health Center . You should go to an emergency room for treatment. SHC will not file insurance claims related to auto accident injuries.

Student Health Insurance Plan

The University of Utah and ASUU strongly encourages all students to have health insurance and is able to offer a health insurance plan through United Healthcare Student Resources.

Student Health Insurance Plan

If the student health plan does not meet your individual needs, the healthcare exchanges offer additional plans-See healthcare.gov for details.

If you qualify for Medicaid based upon the recent expansion, the exchange site will direct you there. Please note, the Student Health Center is NOT a Medicaid provider.

For more information please go to https://basicneeds.utah.edu/health-resources.php.  Many of these other insurance options and Medicaid are not billable through Student Health Center and you may need to pay out of pocket.

No Insurance

If you have no insurance, the Student Health Center has lower prices than the community.
